I want to start by thanking my reader Geniferb for bringing the topic of this post to my attention.  There have been rumors abound about HP Lovecraft being the inspiration for the J.J. Abrams project in some form or another.  Since the Godzilla rumors have died down, they have been replaced with the mythical creature of Cthulhu created by Lovecraft in his short story “Call of the Cthulhu”.  This creature certainly fits the description of possible things that could destroy New York City.

When I first read these guesses my initial thoughts were these are just stabs in the dark much like the Godzilla rumors.  However after seeing some pictures of HP Lovecraft I am starting to believe there could be some credence to the theories.  Lovecraft has many of the facial features that people have pointed to as defining features of the face or demon in the 1-18-08 face photo.  If you are having trouble making the transition from seeing a demon to a person, think about the forehead of the demon as the hair of a person (I had a hard time with this).  Below is a picture of the two right next to each other so you can easily compare the two for yourself.
