Top Internet Candidate: Ron Paul is by far the king of the internet, he is on every major social networking site, YouTube, and thanks to some brilliant use of Digg has a stranglehold on the blogosphere.  The Digg presence is really what makes the difference, he is the only Candidate with over twenty 3000+ dugg articles (Obama has only three), and that hype has flooded every site tracking hot blog topics.  It has really given a platform for the relatively unknown candidate stand out and gain some much needed buzz around his name.

Runner Up: Barack Obama also has a huge presence on the social networking sites, in fact this is primarily why he stands out for his use of the internet.  His personal my.barakobama.com social networking site is certainly one of the most creative internet campaign tools seen to date.  Obama gives his supporters many different options for networking and building some hype.

Just Above the Pack: John McCain was the inspiration for this post as his AdSense advertisements were showing up on my blog.  I have not seen internet ads from any other candidates; that certainly does not mean they don’t exist, but McCain gets the nod for reaching an audience outside of the political circle.

Average Candidates:  Most candidates are in the major social networking sites and on YouTube, but have yet to really make a splash to stand out on the internet.  These candidates are: Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, John Edwards, Bill Richardson, Sam Brownback, Jim Gilmore, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, Dennis Kucinich (website could use a makeover), Duncan Hunter (just barely, has the MySpace and YouTube links), and Tommy Thompson (another just barely, has MySpace and Flickr links).

2002 called, they want their websites back: These guys seem to have missed the boat on the social networking scene, and have failed to create any internet presence: Mike Gravel, Rudi Giuliani, Tom Tancredo, and Christopher Dodd (his Google sponsored link to his presidential candidate page had a blank content area).
