In recent years I cannot help but notice that my Chinese fortune cookie fortunes have gotten worse and worse. In fact in recent weeks I have received downright disappointing fortunes. It first started with fewer and fewer fortunes that worked with the addition of “…in bed”, but maybe I have just matured and do not find that as funny anymore (I highly doubt that is the case, hence this post). A couple of weeks ago I received what I thought was the worst fortune that could possibly be written, it read “You like Chinese food.” Of course I like Chinese food, that’s how I got the fortune cookie in the first place! Then tonight I opened a cookie that put that one to shame. This one read “About time I got out of that cookie”, like the fortune was talking to me in first person and it wanted to get out. I for one have had enough, we should demand more from our fortune cookie writers. We need to stand up for what we know is right, so our children can one day enjoy great fortunes. Perhaps a grassroots campaign to improve fortune cookie fortunes is in order…
